#24 ✨ Same Story, Different Frame
From biased headlines to bold demo day showcases, this week we reflect on why framing matters, celebrate new builders, and track big moves from NVIDIA, the EU, and even Bad Bunny 🐰🏈.
At the Amela Frequency 📡, every Monday, we reflect on tech news, share thoughts from our network ✍️, and hand you tools and frameworks for early-stage builders ⚒️. If you’re building (or dreaming about it), you’re in the right place.
Hello Amelxs 👋
This past weekend, I found myself reflecting on something I saw Friday night in a headline by Forbes Women: “Unprofitable fintech is expanding.”
It struck me because, after years in fintech, I had never seen a company framed like that in a headline. The irony? With the exact same facts, Forbes Perú ran a completely different headline: “Filipino fintech is expanding globally.” Same story, two frames — and two very different impressions.
It reminded me that the way we communicate shapes perception: with investors, with customers, with the public. Words matter. And too often, women founders in particular get framed in ways that highlight risk over possibility. Whether it’s clickbait or unconscious bias, it’s on us to notice it, call it out, and push for fairer narratives. Because framing doesn’t just describe reality — it influences it.
On a brighter note, last week we hosted the Zero to Builder Demo Day 🎉. It was inspiring to watch participants showcase what they’d built — from tools tackling loneliness to B2B SaaS platforms. Seeing those ideas come to life is exactly why we run this program, and we’ve just opened applications for the next cohort. If you’re ready to test your idea and build with AI, this is your moment.
A few other things on my radar this week:
🔹 NVIDIA’s $5B Intel investment — a reminder that AI infrastructure is shaping the next era.
🔹 European Tech Alliance — voting closes tomorrow; this could reshape startup regulations across Europe.
🔹 And yes, Bad Bunny is officially playing the Super Bowl 🐰🏈. Beyond joy and representation, I can’t help but wonder: should we dive deep into the business case of Bad Bunny in a future issue? (Vote below 👇)
hugs,
