#05 So you wanna start a community? 🤨
Community resources, Bill Gates's daughter new venture and focusing on what matters.
At the Amela Frequency 📡, every Monday, we reflect on tech news, share thoughts from our network ✍️, and hand you tools and frameworks for early-stage builders ⚒️. Basically, if you’re building (or dreaming about it), you’re in the right place.
Hello Amelxs 👋
Last week I was in Spain — and just as I was wrapping up work, the entire power grid went down. Total blackout. It was a strange, and somehow prompting to reflection. Honestly, it brought me back to the early pandemic days… when everything stopped, and we had to sit with the question: What actually matters?
For me, moments like that are a reminder that life is short — and if there’s something you want to build, don’t wait. I recently gave it a go with storytelling through images so here is go build instagram poem.
Now that I’m back in Berlin, I’m excited because tomorrow we kick off our ZeroToBuilder👷🏻♀️ program! Applications are closed, but we’ve opened a waiting list for the next edition. All the people on the list will get early access and a little discount. All genders welcome.
Other highlights from the week:
🧓 Warren Buffett, one of the most emblematic figures in the investment world, retired at 94. Proof that doing work you love can carry you decades.
EWOR, the “YC of Europe” (I’m part of their crew) raised $60M to invest in the next generation of exceptional founders. If you are based in Europe and would to apply do shoot me an email.
And this edition is also dedicated to Maria Gracia — one of our Amela members who recently asked for resources on how to better use her network, build community, and prioritize the right things. 💌 She also just launched a beautiful new newsletter: Books & Más, a weekly dispatch on the Latinx literary world. We love to see Amelxs launch things into the world — and we’re here for it.
With that, let’s jump into another great edition.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out who raised last week 📈
🧠This Week’s Food for Thought
A piece of content or image that sparked conversation.
There’s been a lot of debate about whether venture capital is the right path for all founders — and it’s true, it’s not one-size-fits-all. But if you are considering raising capital, understanding how VC firms are structured is crucial.
This slide deck (originally shared by Ruben) breaks down the typical fund setup: who gets what, how returns are structured, and where incentives actually sit. Whether you're pitching or just thinking ahead, aligning your vision with your investors' incentives can make or break your fundraising journey.
