#05 🌸 Building, Motherhood & Momentum
From celebrating mom-founders to launching MVPs and decoding retention.
At the Amela Frequency 📡, every Monday, we reflect on tech news, share thoughts from our network ✍️, and hand you tools and frameworks for early-stage builders ⚒️. Basically, if you’re building (or dreaming about it), you’re in the right place.
Hello Amelxs 👋
Hope you’re all having a strong start to the week! 🌼
We just celebrated Mother’s Day, and I want to take a moment to recognize all the moms in our community — and beyond. We’re lucky to have some incredible mom-founders in Amela — and for anyone wondering whether it’s possible to do both, the answer is: yes. It takes effort, but it’s absolutely doable.
To celebrate, we kicked off a new content series — starting with the story of a brilliant founder who’s also a mom. Check out the first post in “10 Women You Didn’t Know Are Billionaires.” 💜
This week, we launched our latest cohort of From Zero to Builder 👷♀️— a 5-week program to build your MVP.We kicked things off with a deep dive into mental models and what drives people to build what they build. If you want to join the next cohort, the waiting list is already open.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been working on how we present — and improve — the value of the Amela membership. Some cool updates are coming soon. 👀
And out in the world… change is in the air:
✨ Whitney Wolfe Herd is back at Bumble — with a powerful reflection on burnout, identity, and bouncing back. Her story is a reminder that stepping away doesn’t have to be the end — it can be part of the reset.
🕊️ The Catholic Church just elected a new pope, bringing both tradition and transformation into the spotlight. These generational leadership shifts always reflect something deeper about the moment we’re in.
🛠️ Figma is leveling up. Their latest features are a great reminder that even the most loved tools keep evolving — and keep pushing builders forward.
Here’s to honoring the roles we hold — mother, builder, leader — and continuing to show up for ourselves and each other.
🧠This Week’s Food for Thought
Just some fun on the Mother’s day topic. Because not all in life is serious. Science may have its pyramid of evidence, but Mom’s advice sits comfortably above systematic reviews — and somehow, she's always right. 💁♀️💥
